love the shot, I bet there were 10 shots you could have taken of this rock. I see the one you took and removing the upper half you have a totally different shot.
As far as light meters I always go with the spot. much more percise than a in camera meters.

Mike, yes, I made a few more exposures, only they were ruined by a size 8 footprint in the sand! The spot meter was a new toy, so I had more confidence with the cameras meter on the day. Things have changed now and I would trust the spot meter every time.

P.s, as an aside, I am at pains to post here on the galleries as all the beauty and luminence of a print is totally lost as soon as you press that upload button.

yea, that is why I don't try to comment too often on bad tones or it being too dark or too light
