Zoom for Moth Fans

Crop of previous post....

Maybe this would make a better avatar than my current hummer one.

Unadulterated zooms of chromes are allowed, no?

This is a flatbed scan at 9600 or so, a drum should pull out considerably more detail.

I am thinking to make a few crops to b&w neg and print that way as well.

I think it's a cool image. Love the colors and there's something very appealing about the lines and shapes in the bark juxtaposed with the cottony softness of the wing. That's a warm/cold contrast too.

Thanks Mark. This was a very patient subject. As I was setting up, he (She?) flew onto my bright pink shirt and sat (slept?) there patiently. I thought, okay, fine, and finished setting up the shot, then encouraged him/her onto my finger and back into place. After being deposited back, he/she did a very vigorous dance for a minute, I guess to fluff up again. I can report that the creature does indeed feel very soft and downy, and the undercarriage is very large and fuzzy. It was about palm sized, wingtip to wingtip. I think he/she doesn't like direct sun, it fled for shade a few minutes after our session.

I like full frame on this better but this is pretty amazing

I think that you can play with that picture for a while, though I don't mind
Really amazing in delicacy and color.

Marc
