Wildlife photography with an 8x10, you're crazy!
Frickin' sweet.

Well, a sleepy young owl in a Zoo is not a bad choice than. Pitty you couldn't get the wire netting out of the frame, that would have made it completely, but still a lovely picture though.

I like the fence being there; its geometric pattern offsets the softness of the brush. And, I'm sure it wasn't in the Tonopah zoo, but rather the Galli backyard wildlife preserve;-)

Thanks. No zoo anywhere close to Tonopah. A few ranches. This family lives at a local apartment complex.

Can't you just hear him/her thinking:

"hmm, a 16" f/11 Petzval"

It has long been known by folks in the Nevada outback that Petzval swirlies have a hypnotic effect on baby owls.
Nice one Jim. The full plate format nicely rounded out the composition. This is crucial when photographing wildlife in the field, after stalking the subject, a quick judgement has to be made as to which back and lens to slap on the camera before one fires away with the old hat in hand shutter. With this set up at ones fingertips there is absolutely no need to pack a heavy zoom lens.
