It is hard to believe that this is not a digital composite of images. The fact it is a straight photograph using film is remarkable. (or is it straight?)
Hi,
after heavy rainfalls the Tsauchab river have enough water to reach the Sossusvlei area at the Namib Naukluft Park. Maybe 30 years ago the sanddunes moving into the end of the valley and these 500 years old trees died because of less water

Rick, I can't speak for the original poster, but it seems these kinds of desert environments give you a lot of unusual reflective "fill"... all the barren, bright soil, sand dunes, etc, act like reflectors. I found that kind of effect in Arches NP in the slot canyons and stuff, for example. Everything is a reflector.
Anyway, this is a great shot. This area looks so stunning.
