Hi Michael,
what a pity they're all quite beautiful. It doesn't look like flair from the lens.

It looks like it might be fogging due to a film being improperly wound...except they're sheet film (scratches head).

It could be a light leak where the film holder is held at the bottom of the camera. but again the pattern isn't really what you'd expect in that situation.

If it was a developing problem then the marks would be due to overdevelopment in those areas and that seems unlikely when the rest of the sheet is so even.

Film defect? Otherwise I'm stumped.

After seeing all three, I'm leaning more toward uneven development.

What kind of coatings are on your filter?

I use a jobo tank and I developed other sheets in the tank and did not get this effect. in fact the other sheets were from the same film and lens. NOW!!!!!! I did open a new box of film purchased from Jand C before they went under. could it be X-ray damage from shipping?
The filter is a Lee plastic (2mm thick) #21. I have used them before and have not had any problems. But I have to have a open mind on this one.

Well, the nature of uneven development is that it might not affect each sheet evenly. Are you using a Jobo spiral and inversion tank, Jobo spiral and rotary processing, or a Jobo Expert tank with a separate chamber for each sheet? This sort of problem could result from some moisture in the tank or maybe if you accidentally set one of the sheets on a damp surface during loading, though I'd think that would be taken care of by the presoak, which you say you do. Or if it's an expert drum, maybe one chamber is filling unevenly for some reason. I haven't used that system myself. Or if it's a spiral, then maybe an air pocket is keeping liquid from flowing properly when the tank is initially filled.

If it's a film defect, it's an odd one, because it's always happening at the edges or corners of the sheet, where it would seem that developer flow issues would be more likely.

[edit: nevermind about the spiral. I forgot this was 8x10", but the other possibilities still hold, if you're using an Expert tank or print drum].

David
I first want to say thank you for spending so much time with my problem without you and the others so many question could not have been answered.
I use the expert tanks, I just can't see it being developing, only because two sheets were developed with 3 other sheets and one was developed with two other sheets. I have gone over the negatives again and again. the only difference in the shots that day was the #21 lee plastic filter. I just have to think that or the sun maybe hit the corner of the glass and caused some kind of defraction of light. they all are at the top, all the same and the Sun was pointing at the camera in the same direction. Developing or a light leak would have diffused edges like the one film that does have a light leak. If it was film defect the clear edge would have been effected too. One thing I just thought of was I used the two lens after this site and they did not have a problem. so hopefully it has a fluke at this one site.
