Looks good from here. The film / developer combination is my favorite, although I develope for around 12 min.

Erwin: When I shot this kid he was standing up and I was sitting on the floor. This resulted in a low angle. He was supposed to be sitting, but that won't work with a boy like him

When I shoot kids I normally let them stand and have something to play with to make them more relaxed and it let them show the true expressions.

Let me say I am VERY inspired by Cheryl Jacobs although I shoot studio and she shoots day-light location.

Nicely done! You caught a great expression, which is the most difficult and important thing. Very sweet little guy.

One little thing I'll pick on: the composition would be stronger if the frame was shifted a bit, leaving less room behind the boy and more in the direction of his gaze. That would give his fingers a little more room, while placing his eyes in a stronger position in the frame. I'd also consider a square crop to eliminate the graphics on his shirt which tend to pull the eye down; alternately, that could just be burned down a bit.

I agree with space in front of him, but it was difficult as he was moving a lot. Of course I should have used a shorter focal length to allow space around him so I had options in the cropping.

The print on his clothes was one of the things the parents really liked, but I agree it forces the eyes down.

Yeah, it can be hard at times reconciling what you (the photographer) wants as opposed to the wishes of the parents. Although, at this point, I just do it the way I want, and the parents always seem to come around.
