Bromoil print. A new version from an old negative. It's Pops again! Pops was a French Quarter street dancer that I befriended some years ago. This is my favorite image of the man. Pops hoofed around the French Quarter for decades, collecting donations for his tap dancing. Like Bojangles, he "danced a lot" ... and had a great zest for life. Pops, thanks for the memories!
Thanks John! Pops had such an expressive face -- and eyes! I'll never forget sitting with him on some steps by the sidewalk, chatting as he fed the pigeons. "I entertain the tourists and they tip me," he said. "The birds entertain ME and they need tipping, too." Pops spent some of his money each day on bird seed to feed the French Quarter pigeons.
I will never stop to be fascinated by your portraits of Pops. Really truly remarkable print. The man seems so vivid and alive. Life's simple pleasure s are the best, like feeding pigeons.
