2 1/4 inch contact print.
I took along my small camera on a long (seven week) to Iceland this past summer along with the 8x10. I wanted to be able to photograph even when the conditions were not right for large format.
Every picture made was intended to be contact printing and seen as such. That is why they are displayed small here, even when I have the ability the make the scans larger.
For these kinds of subject matter, this is too small to really work for me (add another 2 cms on each side and that is pretty much lifesize). I cannot make out the wonderful tonal range, textures and details that I know exists in an AZO contact print of a subject such as this and the other one you posted. No doubt this would be a perfect candidate for the AZO enlarger head.
I would contact print them, but the work would not be just a single picture, more like a series, or story board (without a story-just visual relationships).
I saw a series made with a 35mm enlarged to 5x7, then I saw the proofsheet of the whole roll. The prints were not good at all and I said that he should contact print them and mount them on a single board. He replied, "Are you serieus, they are 35mm!" ---I said, "I don't care!"
