Marching into the Mist

Marching into the Mist

This was a last shot as I was walking back to our holiday cottage after shooting the snowy shots I posted previously. Whereas they were on large format, this was captured using my Leica as the larger camera had been packed away. Shows that you should always have a camera ready as I hadn't noticed this opportunity when scouting the area earlier. It also highlights the drawback of 35mm film - I developed the 5x4s two months ago but had to wait until last week to finish the 35mm film!

That's really very nice. The composition is fantastic, and the soft tones and glorious color all contribute to a very successful print.

This is gorgeous! I love the composition & everything about it!
BUT I will call you to task on one little thing... it actually shows you the versatility of 35mm. How long would it have taken you to pull out your other camera, set up the tripod, get things just so, make adjustments, etc, etc, til you could have actually taken the shot??? You were very smart to have your 35mm along & ready.

Jeanette, OK, fair point! Yes, it always pays to have a 35mm camera available to grab shots like this and it's a lot easier to use and much cheaper to develop the film. Thanks for comment!

Agree with Svend. Nothing wrong with 35mm or this print.

Now Delta 3200..that's another story.

Vic, unfortunately in The Lake District around Christmas/New Year there's very little light and if you want to use a 35mm camera handheld then you need at least ISO 1600 so it's Delta 3200 or Neopan 1600 and I prefer to support Ilford for B&W when I can.

I understand your dilemna. I've found Tri-X/diafine a much better combo for 1600 speed but realize that not everyone can get diafine or wants to use Kodak.
