What a great shot, I love the way the planes appear to have shot out of the alpine slide.

Demonstrates that in certain shots of planes you don't need a 2-300mm lens for their impact to register. Oh and colour isn't always necessary either

Great shot. A little grainy for a print scan. I am using dixactol too for hp5 development. Do you prefer single or two bath?

I always used a single bath. The grain is actually on the print, but because the sky was partially dodged during the G.3 exposure and then burned in with a G.5 filter, this has accentuated the sharpness (and grain). A small price to pay for the increased tonal separation in the highlights. I think Dixactol and HP5 were made for each other, but in smaller formats, i.e. 35mm, that acutance really shows!

Amazing shot, beautifully timed and framed. The planes clearly have their attention, and ours too. The contrast and accutance is spot on.
