Pashendale?

Pashendale?

I came across this misty scene when we set out on a 12 mile hike. The forestry had been recently felled and the hillside made for a ragged mix of stumps, fallen trees and the odd survivor left standing, apparently at random. I took a quick shot as the family was moving on but I was lucky enough that when we returned several hours later it was still misty and I had the chance to spend a little more time composing my image. The fallen tree in the foreground looked like razor wire on a battle field and the overall destruction gave a feeling of being caught up in world war one.

wonderful mood you've captured. reminds me of foggy days on the west coast of British Columbia tree planting.

I immerse myself in the beauty, mood, and mystery of this print. Stellar work!

Nice image. What would the colour have been without the toning ?

A powerful and beautiful print- and a novel spelling of Paschendaele

Roy, the print came out olive green straight from the developer which surprised me as at this dilution it usually comes out browny-orange. Not sure why the tones were so different this time, it might be because the mist made this a very low contrast image and to get this effect I had to develop the print for 38 minutes!

I had the same result with Fomatone in lith, the photo of tree in fog, it came out olive green in MACO LP lith developer .... I posted it some time ago. All other prints were orange-brown. I thought about other reasons, but maybe the fog is it ... !
