New Year we got up early. In fact, I think we were the first riding by bike about eight miles to the west end of Juist (fortunately there aren't any cars allowed on the Island). At low tide there is a long sand riff lying bare, stretching out for miles towards Memmert the next island in the west. (The Irish may remember The Riddle of the Sands by Erskine Childers. This is where the story plays.)
If there were no tide you could walk for hours with the thundering surf on one side and a calm and shallow lagoon on the other. Otherwise there is nothing except of sand, an endless horizon and all shades of gray you can think of.
It is nothing to take pictures of easy, especialy with only a nomal angle lens at hand. I will go there next time with my SL66. Unfortunately it is not allowed later than march 31 as it is part of a national park.
The picture was taken freehand with Rolleinar I. It was the only photogenic disturbance in the sand I could find in about half an hours walk.

Very well done still life, in what was apparently a challenging photographic environment.
