Here are the upper branches of a magnificent old tree behind our house. It always amazes me that it knows how to deal with the weight of heavy snow, and the exercise of howling winds. If it ever comes down it'll crush whichever of our cars is in the driveway. But...our whole family loves this tree, and we hope it outlasts us all if we live to actually become venerable ;)

Thank you all for your comments. As williamgregory observed, I'm blessed with some handsome woodstock behind our house! They offer a real eyegasm when they're arrayed in fog, snow, ice, or fall colors.
