St David's Cathedral

St David's Cathedral

This was a great opportunity to try out my shiny new Voigtlander 15mm lens. I was busy watching the progress of the old chap walking up the steps and didn't notice the bird in the top of the frame. I'm in two minds as to whether the bird adds to the image or acts as a distraction away from the main event. What do you think?

Lovely image! I think this is really well done. As for the bird. I think it works with and without. However, I am leaning towards leaving it out. The image has more impact as a result. Seems like Adox paper is worth a try!

The image quality is great, but I would lose the bird. I kept finding myself shifting focus between the bird and the gentlemen.

A good image but this is a landscape in portrait format that works quite well.
Did you try a shot in landscape format? This would have allowed you to prevent the crop on the right side of the cathedral and include the Bishop's Palace on the left.
Best wishes,
John.

Keep the bird.... I suspect it the soul of a Bishop, long past coming to bless your work.... oh, yes, keep the bird...

that is definately a cool looking image! and to think there was no photoshop invovled just boggles the mind. seriously though this is a photo that will stand the test of time. the way the sky is bright behind the church as well as the old man, the old man making his way up the walk and the crow flying overhead all work very well together. this is one of the best shots i have seen in a while, thanks for the inspiration.....frank

Very nice!. Wales.. I think that the bird definitely adds to the Gothic vibe I perceive here and seems to fit well. I did not notice the man until I read a description.. my fairly good monitor is set dead-center for brightness but wish this image were a tad lighter.. Could be the scanning software.

I too like the bird. Either way, it's a great image, but the bird adds to the sense of mystery and wonder. It gives your eye a reason to scan the whole image.
