Beautiful. No other work for surreal, so, erm, surreal! Reminds me of a chap who photographs Japan a lot (well known, cannot remember name). Similar look, tho his is often high key and this one low key. Really magnetic and cannot be glanced at - the mark of something special.

The image is great. The tonal range and contrast are perfect. The composition works well...I respectfully disagree with the suggestion to lose some of the sky...the image feels very balanced as is and I believe that cropping some of that sky would throw the balance off kilter. Very well executed!

Thanks for the comments.

The negative was scanned. The only photoshop involved here is standard postprocessing like layers and contrast adjustments. In other words: there is no digital manipulation, only what you can do in the darkroom. The strange effect is due to the long shutter time.
