Earlier today I wrote that I've fallen out of love with Arches Platine, but I may have to re-evaluate that statement after making this print... This is a 13.5" x 8" print from an 11x14 negative (composite scan). It's from the same session as the Polaroid I posted a few days ago. I'm extremely happy with it, but what do you think?
My favorite of all those you've posted so far... I like the way parts of her body leave every side of the image but the left and her gesture serves to guide my eye all around the frame. I don't think you could have arranged her hair any better. Nice work, Ian.
I'm going to go with the earlier photo because the body is more real to me and far more powerful and sensual. This is a beautiful yellow, but etherealized nudes seem vapid and untouchable.
I think I like the energy in the shot a lot although maybe more dramatic lighting would have emphasised that (but I now that isn't your style, based on other images you've posted). About the merits of Arches Platine paper I can say nothing from a tiny scanned image. I suspect the print is stunning but frankly the screen image could have been shot with a digicam couldn't it? - or are my eyes missing something?
