Abandoned Railroad Loading Station

This was a difficult lighting situation, with the dark parts of the right hand near wall on zone III and the foliage outside above zone IX. I used N-2 development. Next time I print this I'm going to try subduing the white deposits in the archway in the center of the image a bit. Although I like them, I'm thinking they compete with the other areas of interest. Any comments welcome!

It's wild, interesting image. I would sure like to see a silver print framed on the wall. You know who uses this range of tones really well: Jerry Uelsmann. I really like the light around the bare tree trunk-heavenly. Also try creating a square image stealing more from the right than left(Watch the pattern you make on the right edge with the salt deposits) and take a look. Seems to make it more "Intimate." Nice job.

Mark, First I have to say you have a really interesting portfolio here. I have enjoyed looking at all your work. This print here is awesome , I think it shows off your abilities in the darkroom. The white veins in the cement add quite a bit to the overall look , I would not subdue them at all. However , one thing I might try if it was mine would be to print it in reverse so that the "cement veins" are on the left. Right now your eye starts in the back of the print and seems a liitle awkward. If the cement was in the foreground then your eyes would go from left to right and from front to back. well thats my two cents, great portfolio.............frank
