Silage making in hills to east of Kendal in Cumbria. Had to stop and take in the abstract pattern of the cut grass even though it was almost dusk. Sort of homage to Giacomelli. Taken with a long lens. Couldn't get any closer to eliminate the house so it stayed in. Is it a distraction/detrimental?
I agree with thebanana. The house is necessary as it is. However, if you wish to have a more abstract look, crop out the sky at the top. It makes a whole new picture. Either way, I think you have a winner there.
I'd like to differ from the others' opinions about the house. I'd like to but I can't. Fits the picture down to the ground. Wouldn't work in colour but I bet you know that anyway
Superb! The lines are compelling, but the house provides an anchor of scale and perspective on a compelling shot. The thumbnail caught my eye, and the larger version more than justifies that "eye catch". Thanks for posting.
Just for the heck of it, try scrolling the picture up a bit and chop off the top portion of the photograph so the sky and trees are gone. What do you think? I think it really adds to the 'abstractedness' of the fields.
