This scene is captured on 3 Polaroid SX-70 sheets which when placed together form the one image.
It is from a series of portraits (all shot in the same trip ditch format) where I was meeting random people from an internet gay site and photographing them in their homes.
A study for me which at the time was possibly inspired by the works of Diane Arbus and her nudes of people within their homes. This is my adaption of that which i produced when i was in college.
I kinda like the segmentation as-is. Feels a bit like three frames from a single strip of a movie film. I too like the muted, slightly off colors of the shot. Bravo!
...and I shouldn't be telling him how I'd do it differently. The presentation is kind of dispassionate and almost scientific approach which is an interesting counterpoint to the setting. I think that there is a lot of potential here and that what has been done is one effective option.
Jd Callow photography should be discussed I think its great you expressed another idea for a different image using the same subject matter.
Im glad you have observed the cold approach to how Ive recorded the man. He is a stranger from the internet whom I know nothing about and have not seen or spoken to since the shoot. I was an observer, He was casual in his environment and I cautious and inspecting.
I simply felt at the time as is often that this is what I was to do, The images are what they are. it took me to a place i would otherwise not have gone. For me the best photographs are adventures and I hope others enjoy.
