Like a scene straight out of the Hitchcock film with James Stewart. There's also an optical illusion here whereby the roadway seems to twist to the left in a surreal fashion. I don't think a straight print could convey this or the atmosphere which has been conjured up in my mind by this version.

For anyone who has enjoyed the photographs of the early 20th century...i.e. much of the stuff of 'Camera Work' this is a typically wonderful revisitation into that world. Just plain fine work.
