In keeping with the fall theme, I photographed a couple of gourds my kids brought home from the pumpkin patch.

Thanks everyone.

It's very tempting to attach a name like, "The love for two gourds", or something sweetly sentimental, but I didn't want to inflict my own sapiness on anyone else.

Thom, just exercising my 4x5, which I haven't done in quite a while.

Michael, yes Weston seems to have worked very hard to keep everything in sharp focus.

Shooting this was a lot of fun. Good thing the kids were out of the house at the time or else they would have thought their dad had gone off his rocker, fondling a couple of gourds- sheesh!

All the best,
Daniel

Fabulous lighting and composition! Cannot praise this print highly enough! Simply Beautiful!....Alan.

Many thanks, again.

Bruce, for this photograph I used a 120mm lens. On a 4x5 negative, the ratio was just a bit under 1:1, which meant taking into account bellows compensation of almost 2 stops. Natural light came from a row of casement windows, and the backdrop was a sheet of black fabric. A very simple setup.

All the best,
Daniel

Daniel,
I reread what I wrote and it didn't come out as I wanted it. The photograph is outstanding and the tones are as equal.
Westion on many of his closeups took as much as 8 hours to expose. He must have had to stop down to f256 or f128 for that length.

again

great shot.
