In the Pond

After the rains ended on Saturday, I went to GPM wetland, put on high rubber boots, and waded into the pond with the camera. The late afternoon sun was golden and, though not conveyed in b&w, the 'values' are pretty vivid.
Location
Goose Pond Mountain State Park wetland

Mamiya C220, 80mm
Exposure
f22 @ 1/15th

looks like you've made the most of some amazing light there - this is really nice. it has a clarity to it that makes it sparkle on my monitor

Very lovely. I especially like the portrayal of the textures on the surface of the water, which are sometimes hard to predict. Were you able to try some compositions with the tufts of grass less centered? Positioned more to the left, their arcs set up a rhythm and direction that guides the eye across the scene.

All the best,
Daniel

Thank you Bert and Daniel. Yes, Daniel...I shot nearly two rolls of 120 standing up to my mid calves in the pond and 'worked' it as much as I could. This is just one of the results (there's another on my blog.) OBTW, I've had a lot of luck with 1/15th of a second and water. It seems to be the most likely to record what I see without unnaturally blurring it a lot, or stopping it in mid droplet.

great job.
I like how you went out into the water to get this shot. most would not. mostly where I live.

"mostly where I live."

Ha!.....My wife, a native Floridian has warned me about all the one legged duckies, and missing puppies and such......I'll be careful when down there for sure!!

Nice image, I noticed it right away in the gallery group, the water values are just right and quite beautiful. I'll bet a large print on the wall matted just as you have it in the gallery is a wonderful sight. Glad you went "the extra-mile" to show it to us. I think the blade of grass almost touching the RH frame, the ones in the black near the top, and the underwater blade coming diagonally towards the front create tension points that are what make this image-watch those relationships if you try any other composition in a print. Me, I think it's perfect as is. It requires a second look. And that's a good thing.
