Billilla House side view

This was taken specifically to document the bent chimney which is a feature that happened after the 1918 cyclone that the house withstood, albeit with some damage. This was the third time I had been to this house with the specific intent of taking this picture. I have taken other pictures with different cameras, including another with a swinging lens camera elswhere in my gallery.

Mick. Great detail in picture and narrative. After reading the details and looking very hard I think I can just see a slight lean. I am too old now to be a builder and with this judgement I was probably too old at 15!

How do you find the look and feel of Portfolio RC compared with FB?

Thanks

Portfolio RC is a great paper, I have it in two sizes, postcard stock, which is what this is from and 8x10". I would like to get 12x16" but I cannot source it locally, or at least I haven't seen it locally.

The difference between Portfolio RC and a fibre paper is really down to more than just the paper base. Each paper has strengths and weaknesses, which are more than just the base stock they are based upon.

I would nearly always use RC for this neg, in fact the best print I have done in a year or more, is of this onto 12x16" MGIV RC paper, it is simply stunning. Other people who have seen it also agree that it is one of my better pieces of photography.

I did try it on a FB stock, but it just didn't look the same.

I will in the future purchase some of the ADOX paper, solely to print portraits like this, the print I have on the ADOX is stunning compared to the same negative printed on other stock, both RC and fibre.

Mick.
