I've driven past this building during the 1980's many times when its demolition looked a possibility, if these are current images then presumably that didn't happen. I'm enjoying the series, thanks for posting.
Nope not being demolished. Tescos bought it and added a store onto the back... in art deco style. It's quite well done even. The front bit was turned into offices but they've been empty for a few years... company got roped into a 20 year lease but have a 15 year get-out clause so hopefully it'll be in use again soon. They open it up for the public to go in during London OpenHouse weekend.
They apparently had to treat the concrete with some kind of alkaline to keep it from crumbling apart.
Always good to see your work posted. Theres a handful of people on here using polaroid cameras and I must say that I've started taking them seriously as of late becaase of images like this
I'm glad they preserved this building, what a beautiful example of this style. I need that alkaline..
