the leaves around the flower attract to much attention because of the light reflection (my opinion).

I have to agree with that. I am going to try to burn or flash that area on the next print.

I would leave the leaves alone as it is a good contrast of textures; the velvet softness of the Magnolia petals and the hard, waxy leaves from that plant are something that go hand-in-hand.
