This is good. Has nice tones and 'feel'. But to me it feels a little unbalanced composition-wise though.

Wonder if image would look even stronger with about 1/2 the sky cropped? I know you'd lose a lot of the cloud trail, but picture might be better balanced? Either that, or emphasise the big sky by cropping the dark foreground around where the right-hand edge meets the water? Either way I reckon the image would have a bit more balance.

Hope this is helpful.

Cheers,
Gavin

PS -As you can probably tell from my APUG username, Coigach is my favourite place on earth. Have stood at this lochan many times...!

Hi Gavin and thanks for the suggestions. The original has the cloud trail almost reaching the top left corner, but I thought that it was just too much sky when I looked at the scan, so I cropped it! Photo was taken on Monday as one of the only 2 really good days of my holiday in Assynt, so took a run round the peninsula to places I hadn't been to for a while.

All the best, Peter

I'm wondering why this image is so grainy? My experience with
Prescysol EF is that it cuts way down on grain.

If I'm being honest schroeg, I did think it was a bit grainier than I expected. However, it is only my second film through Prescysol EF so I'm not any kind of expert. It may be that it would print better than the scan shows, although Peter Hogan specifically suggested the EF for scanning when I emailed him.

the image is cool but I agree that the apparent grain for this combo usually is much less...my recent post have largely used this combo but in 120...I process at 74degrees 11 minutes , agitate 1st 60sec and @6min and @2mins...

Thanks Miles. This was done pretty much by the letter of the instructions for semi-stand @ 24C with the first minute being agitated then 10 secs agitation at 4 and 7 mins for a total time of 10.5 mins. The film is dated to 2010, so can't see there being any issues there either. The thought occurs that the scanning is to blame, so I'll maybe try rescanning it and see how that looks.
