"Cutie"

This is the neighbor's five year old daughter Mellisa (they seem to call her 'llisa for short). Yesterday evening as the wife and I were going out, I lagged behind for a moment getting my vest on then did not see her out by the car. She was next door in the yard talking to Sue (mother), and Mellisa was pretty much playing in the front yard. So while Rose was talking to Susan I pulled the hassy I just got out of the vest pocket. (Btw this is the first shot off my new hasselblad)

I point the camera at her and I'm looking down in the waist level finder, and she's looking right at the camera, getting curious and slowly walking towards the camera as I slowly walk towards her and focusing. I got about the closest focusing distance of the camera before finally firing off the shutter. I should make up a print for the neighbor when I get a chance.

IF I don't give my wife a daughter sometimes soon, she's bound to steal her from the neighbors. In a funny way Mellisa seemed to have given my wife and I some hope during the time that Clark was about to be born and during his time in NICU (neonatal intensive care unit). Mainly because Mellisa who is now five was a premature infant herself born at 24 weeks (Clark was born at 28 weeks) and she seemed to be doing just fine, so in a way this gave us hope for our own son who is currently still in the hospital (been 9 weeks since he was born) hopefully soon to come home.

Funny story about Mellisa a couple months back while Rose was still pregnant with Clarkie. She really caught me off guard in the past one evening when I'm over at the neighbor's house fixing Tim's computer (her father), and she comes by (round 9pm) expecting a hug and kiss from everyone before going to bed including me, which caught me off guard. Tim just laughed saying that I'm gona have to get use to it when Clarkie is born.

Hopefully despite the five year difference her and Clark can be good friends when he gets older.

Great shot, and being the first one on a new camera of your neighbor "cutie" makes it only better. By all means make prints for her parents. I would even frame it. Best to you and your family.
