I think her gaze is a bit "haunted"... I feel slightly uncomfortable by her gaze... but maybe the problem is that she herself is feeling uncomfortable in front of the camera??

I'm with Gavin. The clothing, lighting, and background all help to present a striking model in a strong way. This works much better than the shots that emphasize mere vegetables.

I'm also a Aurora allone fan. I take she without vegetables;--)))
The light is suboptimal if I see it right on my monitor.
One small shadow at the left side of the nose and a larger and tiny bit stronger one on the right side of the nose.
So as I see it in here eyes you used 2 lights at to similar power, could thad be?

Hi Gavin,

Interesting you say she's looking self-assured. I have exactly the opposite feeling. Maybe I need to rephrase my initial post to say that I think she's looking uncertain and maybe a tat bit sad... But hey, that's just my interpretation... and I have probably never been very good in reading other peoples faces and feelings... a male defect I guess ;-)
Would be interesting to hear an interpretation of one of the female photographers on APUG...
Certainly an intriguing portrait though... and her face is remarkable, a good portrait subject.

Whatever we think she is feeling, I think "striking" is probably the one word we can all agree on. Warm tone suits this portrait.

The cauliflower in the other detracts. Gives it a faintly comical aura.

Is it just me or is there something about the perspective?
I'm guessing that this was taken with a short lens and a longer (150 to 200) might have been a better choice.

Does she like it?

Hi Pentaxuser,

Ooops... thanks for your correction... my english (i'm Dutch) left me struggling here.

"Striking" (and in a positive sense!) was the word I intended to use, instead of "remarkable"... my English dictionary now tells me that I was wrong in my translation from memory...

Thanks for the comments, everybody. The model was very happy with this one, and not so enthousiastic about the grocery pics.
While taking pics, she appeared to be pretty relaxed... She is a bit more mature than the majority of the other models I did, which is much more comfortable for me as well..

Yup, I prefer her without the veggies, much more honest and convincing.

Cheers,
Bill
