This is a shot I took of New-York few weeks ago. This is also my first try at burning, so I know that the demarcation on the horizon line is not very clean.
Patrick, you are right, there is a bit of a line at the horizon. One suggestion for this type of work is the use of "split grade" prinintg. Since the paper can be worked with contrast filters, you might try using a similar procedure, but change the filter to work the sky when doing the burning. It will take a bit of practice, but it works well and will give different results that just a straight burn.
Take a look in the forums under split grade printing. tim
None of this looks natural and that's the key. I was so intrigued by this kind of cityscape expanse and the unreal sky that I hardly noticed the burn line at the top of the buildings.
I am sure it can be technicaly better but will it have as much impact?
I did some search, based on the comment of noseoil, and I will give a try to split grade printing tonight. If the result is interesting, I will repost. I will also take this opportunity to correct the horizon.
Is it just me or pearl paper seems more difficult to scan ?
