I think this one works way better. The color of the paper in this one isn't overdone. It is subtle and is far less abou trickery. Hope that helps.

Victor, I'm late in the game to comment. I really like both of them, but this one seems to suit the mood of the scene much better. That Varycon paper really rocks in lith developer. I'm sorry to hear about the problems you had with it. I never saw that particular issue.
Anyway, it's an amazing print that I would proudly hang next to the "seagulls in mist"...
