I'm really excited about this series of portraits. It's really not that unusual in its execution but the element of the drawing combined with plat/pall kind of sets these images apart.

johnnywalker, yes the rug is from Peru. Early 1900's, I got this from my mother this and another one that is 8x10 feet over 3000 pieces sewn together as a bedspread originally. It hangs on the opposite wall. There is an article about these 2 pieces published 1932, if you have an interest I'll dig it up and e-mail it to you.

Interesting, I have wall-hanging I bought when I lived in Peru in the early 80's that has the same bird in it.
