I just posted a new BLOG entry if you're looking for more info than given below.

I have two long term projects going on right now and I've been looking for something I can finish in the short term.

Here is a link to the image that gave me the idea...

As a sort of companion to my Cambell's Farm or Thereabouts series I will be shooting about 200 sheets of 4x5 film centering around the various Pond Scum on the 6 ponds around the property this summer.

Doc, I really like these more subtle photographs from this series-- the ones that are less litteral. I think this is my favorite so far. The soft reflection juxtaposed with the sharpness of what ever is on the surface of the water makes this one for me.

Thanks fellows! This is one of my favorites so far. The sun was playing games plus my neighbor (and good friend) was talking at me while trying to make this exposure... luckily ignoring him seemed to work and the sun finally poked backed out at the right time! Best. Shawn

Shawn, you're doing really well on this series. The title 'pond scum' is pretty effective too. To me it's amazing how nature can keep going the way we treat it sometimes. There's beauty to be had beyond all the scum. Very unique and engaging.

hi shawn

i keep coming back to this "pond scum" image.
i love the reflections, and the hint
above and below the water.

i can see how you will easilly be able to shoot 200 sheets of film there

keep up the great work !

john

Thanks guys! It's become obvious this doesn't have the wide appeal that some of my other work does, but it's really encouraging that many of the photographers whose work I respect the most are enjoying it. I feel like this is some of my strongest work to date. Now I gotta fix my new light leak and get back out there. Best. Shawn
