it is missing snap. the waterfall doens't seem to be high enough on the zone scale. shadows are fine no blocking out and the cropping seems good. maybe it is the scan not the pic. this seems to happen alot.

I wonder if this is simply not the effect of a waterfall with a veil of water which isn't lighter until it gathers in greater volume at the bottom where it is more conventionally whiteish.

I like the warm look of the print. I wouldn't have expected this with MGIV and normal multigrade dev.

This might be an interesting one for the technical gallery if you were to print another in Warmtone and with Warmtone dev and there was an appreciable difference.

I have certainly seen shots using Ilford Warmtone paper and dev not look any warmer than this.

In the gallery I suspect that it's not possible to convey the difference of fibre paper.

Maybe you have to touch the print to appreciate the difference. You don't say whether this is glossy, pearl or satin.

Satin RC has a real texture which might bring it close to a fibre feel but I don't know as I am a RC person myself.

I'd be interested in shuffling Ilford heavyweight Portfolio RC non glossy prints with fibre ones and asking Joe Public which prints he preferred.

thanks for the comments i used the glossy paper. i have been struggling with printing black and white prints so rather than waste my fibre i have been using rc ,my lith prints have been quite easy to print as i can see whats going on in the developer and having an idea of what i want in my mind but not having much experience(spelling) in a dark room of how to dodge burn ,test strips and so on in normal printing i have just got a zonemaster 11 which is helping no end and i feel i am getting somewhere. getting back to the print i wasnt sure if the water wasnt bright enough through my exposure/developement or if it was like that as it was only a small fall in comparison to how it was a few weeks before this ,thanks once again for all your comments as they help a great deal, wayne
