a series i'm work on, glass and electricity.
my first foray into this style. this is an rca 829 tube i picked up, set on a 8x10 sheet of glass. shot on polaroid 54..

exposed with a carl meyer f/10 12", set at f/16 for 1/100, with roughly 24" of bellows draw. two bare flash heads on a 240 w-s pack, one aimed at the paper in the back, the other close by pointed down to light up the tube innards.

i also shot this in hp5+ at f/32 and f/64, i hope it turns out as well. i hope to do big prints from shots like this.

I'm a vacuum tube amplifier geek, sometimes spending time in near darkness illuminated only by the operating 12AX7 and 7189 tubes of my stereo. They sound incredible, and they look really cool. Plus they heat a cold basement in the winter really well too.

I love the starkly clean presentation. If I had enough money, I would probably have been a potential customer for these. There is a huge market for tubes these days, you may do well contacting the big audio outlets, such as Audio Advisor and talk to them about selling prints. The series you posted looks fantastic.

Another tube (or valve as we call them) geek here! I build recording equipment with valves/tubes.

I love the way the glass appears in these images. Although you know that the glass it transparent, it shows a full range of tones.
