Hehe- Shawn, I don't think I've ever gotten a reaction like that from my photographs before! That's very kind of you. I really like this photograph myself, and I want to continue challenging myself to see differently. The APUG galleries have been a great source of inspiration and enjoyment.

Yeah man. This is different, something I think you should definately continue to explore. I wish I'd made it!

Is this something you had a feeling about? Set out to photograph? or just discovered in the viewfinder and went with? It seems like less DOF and it would have lost direction... more and it would have lost something, too. Whatever it was or however you came to make this, congratulations!

Thanks, Shawn. This was very much a spur-of-the-moment photograph. The light happened to be just right (slightly overcast) and I felt like I was awash in a sea of these glowing leaves, but when I went to grab my camera, I had a hard time capturing that impression in the viewfinder. Finally, something clicked when I got in close to one of the trees, and I exposed three frames varying the aperture to get different degrees of defocus. It was still somewhat of a surprise to see what came out after developing the film (I love that). This is definitely something I will try to explore more consciously in the future.
