Visually it's a pleasing image. I think it could be helped by a little bit of edge burn particularly on the sides. There seems to be some fall off of density especially on the left.
If you were to go back and reshoot it, my suggestion would be to shoot a larger negative, use a less grainy film/developer combination or both. Seeing fog more as silky and smooth than grainy would help this image.
Yo know what I like about this image??? It looks like you've actually gone back in time to take this picture! yeah, sure, burn in the upper right, but WOW, what a feeling you've captured!
Thanks both for your thoughts. I think part of the problem with the corner is a bad scan. I am crap with my scanner, but I will double check my original and make sure it isn't something I need to work on in the print.
Something else you might try with fog shots. If you use a spot meter, read the fog area in the sky, and then open up 1 stop, and bracket from there. Check the darker areas of the scene to make sure you're still getting detail. You may have to reduce development to retain the shadow detail, but keeping print density in the fog is the larger issue, I think.
That's essentially what I did with this shot of Patrick's Point on the North Coast of CA:
