Love the off-balance feeling of the pose and the model's reaction, Ed, but the whole thing is just a bit light for my taste. Could be the gamma of my (mac) monitor, but her shoulder almost washes out.
I like the spontanious appearance of the model, love her pose and expression. Hands are gorgeous. The final presentation of the image fails for me. I do not care for images made attempting a Hi Key effect but ending up with a washed out or under exposed final result. A good try in my opinion, but not quite right on. On my monitor the shadows lean on the green side. I am glad you posted it, all in all, I enjoyed it!
The score at present, from posting other images with measured similarities - here and at other sites:
Green/ leaning toward, 12; Magenta/ leaning toward, 10; No comment about color balance 32.
I think your model is completely at ease, which is 99% of success with this kind of work. I think the pose is very good to boot.
The colour on my LCD monitor isn't that great, I would agree with jd callow more or less with the filtration changes that possibly will bring the colours closer to life like colours. But is it possible that the RA4 dev may be off?
I ask this as it appears that the colour is reasonably correct in the fully lit areas, whereas in the shadowy parts is where the colours appear to be going off. The palm of her right hand in the highlight areas is reasonably alright, but the shadow parts of the creases is going off.
When RA4 dev is either going off or depleted, one gets blue blacks, instead of black blacks. Other colours also go off but the black is pretty much a first sign.
I am going to stop submitting color images - completely. I have analyzed and *balanced* the color here to the point of absurdity. I am NOT relying on subjective "guesses". I am in the CRITIQUE gallery; if I desired information of a technical nature, I would submit to THAT gallery.
No, the developer was NOT "off". Fresh, mixed fresh, used one-shot. Extensive analysis shows EVERYTHING OK.
Hi Ed
I really like the picture from the possing and lighting, but it has a greenish color cast on my calibrated monitor and really by much!
If you like it or not, but you should calibrate your monitor!
Ed,
I don't think any one is throwing stones at you or your work.
Since the day I joined this forum, you have posted some fantastic ideas, poses and beautiful models. The posted images even though very creative, demonstrated then as now color shifts and a washed out look etc. Flesh tones blocking and disappearing or nearly disappearing into backgrounds. At that time you complained that the critics were unjustly picking on you and your work. Also that you would no longer be posting color to the gallery due to responses to your color images. I was sorry to see you do that as I don't think running away is the answer for improving quality. I enjoyed viewing your work very much, I could not lie to you though about your posts.
I and others called it as it was, but you chose not to agree or listen. Simply quit posting.
Were I you, rather than not posting additional images, listen carefully to what people have said and are saying and try to convert those comments into a positive thing. I can easily see and feel your discomfort when you have the forum folks commenting about what you should or not do. My advice is to hang in and find out what the problems in your technique is then fix them!
The color corrections Callow gave look to be very close to me, but each piece of equipment tends to do different things.
Sorry for this being so long, but I do wish you would rethink things and continue posting your color.
