This is part of a series done in 2003 at a mill in northern Utah.
This is a portfolio in Platinum/Palladium consisting of six images in 10 sets. I sell images one and two in an edition of 50 in pt/pd but this image is never sold as a single.
The concept of this series is drawn from metaphore.
This was a set of deeper toned images. The woman on the wheel I used for some time as my avatar was one of these images as well.
The metaphor was dealing with the feminine feelings of self worth viewed from a male perspective. I was exploring how I would interpret visualizations of what a woman may feel in strength as well as insecurities.
Interesting concept! This is a real contrast to Lori1 which I found on your website along with another I presume to be from the series - how many images did you make to complete the series? Did you get much input from the models?
I shot 48 different shots that day, along with seconds on the negs, as well as thirds and on one 4ths. The exposures were quite long and it is hard for a model to freeze for that long, even whey they are good.
I only used one model for the shot. I wanted a single individual for the series. The model is an acquaintance so we have worked with the camera before. (in front as well as behind as she shoots some LF as well)
The ideas for the shots had a wide range of emotion. The others in the series are quite different as well. We really tried to cover the continuum.
I really had strong ideas for my set of images, but let the model set poses for herself, as this was a trade for pt/pd prints from the shoot and payment to her as well, so a few of the 48 odd shots were hers. And, of course, not every shot was a winner, but I did have some specifics in mind and while they came out, I found, as many would, after looking at the negatives that others fit better in the portfolio than others.
Thanks for taking the time to answer - I'd liked to have seen the series! The one of Lori draped over the machinery is interesting and very strong indeed. Thanks again!
