Stupid...

Stupid...

Stupid picture of stupid carrot in stupid window by stupid photographer...

This was made with an old, uncoated twelve-inch Dagor that was very much scratched and pitted front and rear. I didn't even try it for years, figuring it had to be ruined. I tried it on this one, out of curiousity and because I felt sorry for it. The negative is very sharp and beautiful, soft in contrast, but in a lovely way. I'll use the old, beat-up Dagor again sometime...

Mark, it seems to be a very nice lens, based on this one image. Not sure I would want to shoot directly into a strong light source based on your description of the lens, but for most work, this looks to be a very nice lens to use. Nice image, as well.

I think I might recognize one of the models. Was this the carrot in the previously posted shot, prior to its demise? tim

Mark this image is nice , nice tonality and the carrot inspires curiousity. Because of your description I also get a "sense" of melancholy both from the image and its artist....

Tim and Miles ~ Thank you both for looking, seeing, and saying something.

No, Tim, I wouldn't point the lens directly into sunlight either, though it handled a fairly bright backlight through the window fairly well. I wish I had the time and film to put it through its paces, see what it could still really do. At least I worry less about dust and marks on my lenses since I saw what this one could still do...

Oh, and the carrots tend to only make it through one photograph, then into a soup, stew, or steamer. Nourishment for the physical body and the aesthetic soul...

Miles, yes, a sense of melancholia. I'm glad it can be picked up on...

Another carrot on Monday, after the weekend...
