Waterfront 1 : 2 questions

I was shooting in some deep fog last Friday, then the sun came bursting through & burned it away in what seemed like seconds.
I was shooting with Holga I (the good, olde one) and Foma 400 and shooting right into the sun on this shot. I developed the film in Diafine and found that many of the negatives have these ripples running top to bottom.

1. Do the 'artifacts' on the film ruin your viewing experience?
2. What caused them? Over exposure? Light coming through the counter or bouncing off the back of the film? Antihalation layer still on the film when developing?

I really like these Victor. They don't look like typical artifacts, so I don't focus on them and think they enhance the mood in a way. I'd hate to have to guess what caused them, though. In any case, some pretty spectacular shots!

Thanks for the feedback.
I was going to he market to buy cat litter and went back in to get my camera whe I saw what was happening 'down the block'. These are taken maybe 100 yards from our place.
I even shot some with a 'real' camera tbd (to be developed?)
 
i liek the look. i said "wow" when i saw them . i was curious on how you did it....interesting it was a mistake. i think it adds to the shot. i prefer this one.

Vic I really like both of these images that you have posted. They both lend themselves to a welcome departure to the critically sharp and evenly toned presentations that seem to be the norm today.

Vic - I thought that I would increase contrast and have better cloud separation if I taped a yellow gel filter inside the camera just behind the opening of my Zone Zero pinhole. Well every scratch, piece of dust and anything else were very noticeable in the picture. It actually looked pretty cool. I wonder if I can find that print.

Victor, I've had that happen to me on FP4 35mm film in the past when I used Diafine. Turned out I wasn't agitating violently enough. It's as if the developer is in 'layers' unless it's shaken up with full inversion agitation. I agree with Sanders on the artifacts.

Wonderful image this one too. Although I like the other one better. Craplastikonar... :smile:

Hi Vic, these shots are really special ones. I like this one more, because of so beautiful buildings shade in far. Fomapan works in such a situations well, and should be even pushed to 800 with not much bigger grain. The mood with flares is just excellent, I think, if you would like to repeat it, it will be hard to achiveve just this effect :smile: ?
Anyway, the mood captured, graininess and view is superb!! Like it very much, it has structure simillar to lith, but completely cold BW, interesting.
