Kaskaskia Canyon - Tom Johnston

Kaskaskia Canyon, Starved Rock S.P., Illinois.

I finally ran out of my stock of the old version of Tmax100 so I did my calibration testing for the new version last week. I wanted to get out and give it a try with real subject matter. This was taken yesterday. There wasn't much to shoot and there was almost no snow but I managed to shoot a couple.

I like the tones in the shadows and highlights. the whole pic has a pleasing feel to me. since I moved to florida I have missed the winter ice photography. but I do get about two months more outdoors than I did when I was up north.

great photo.

I think this would be a good one to experiment with some potassium ferricyanide bleach to accentuate the banding in the rocks or brighten the snow/ice.
