Yes, excellent shot for IR, like it a lot. This I reckon could handle being much darker making it very dramatic. Great work.

Nit picking my own work....

On the composition: The dead flower stalk off the frame on the top center bothers me, but I have another with a wider view that IMO does not have the same impact, it's weaker despite including all the flower stalks - I don't know what to do about that.

Also the flower stalk on the right, high center portion of the frame shows motion blur. It was very windy and frankly I'm surprised the other stalks are as sharp as they are (moderately sharp but still show signs of motion blur). I'm not sure how much this bothers me?

I have a friend in mind for a 16x20 framed enlargement, but I'm not sure the frame is worthy. I'm up in the air about it now.

So the question is, would my friend be happy with a print of this?

Suggestions for paper to finish this off and present it properly?

Thanks in advance.
Joe

I love the look of IR, and am going to try my hand at it soon (just bought the book). This is a great example of the other-worldly look that makes it appeal to me. I agree that the center stalk leaving the frame is distracting, but the one on the right you don't like seems fine to me. I don't know much about printing (yet) but you definitley want to use a paper to preserve the dramatic contrast, but not go overboard- this is as contrasty as I would like. Maybe a fibrebase to maintain the rich texture, not too glossy (is this how these things are done?). Is there any way you could burn the edge a bit so the stalk stops, rather than leaving the frame? If you like this photo better than the other, I'd try to fix it- you'll be happier with the results when you seen it hanging in your friend's house.

Having the branch going out of the pictures isn't a bad thing. not eveything has to be inside the box. if focus or movement is a problem I would keep the photo to no larger than 11x14. I find when I go 16x20 or 20x24, movemnt unless you wnat it really shows up. 'If your friend still wants it. then it is up to you if you if you want others to see it that way. I tend to tell them it isn't printable at that size.

As for the pic I think the film you choose is great and anything else may have been borning. Great shot.
