The Griffin Bar

A shot from the first film through my recently acquired Minox 35GT, this 103 year old bar sits opposite the Kings Theatre in Glasgow and was the nearest watering hole for the many famous actors of yesteryear who played the theatre. Strong sunshine has reflected off the windows to give the highlights on the wet street. Ilford Delta 400 in straight D76.

The corner bar opening onto the street in a tenement block. Well composed. A piece of history which the vandals nearly destroyed. No not the nuisance ones with ASBOs but the very dangerous, elected ones with visions of creating soulless dry "Schemes" to save the working class from themselves and the demon drink.

Is that a railroad/trolly track with a signal post standint in the middle?

No, it's just a normal street traffic light. We rarely have overhead signals here.

Good job the modern pram is in the frame or I might have thought it was a postcard from the '50s - wonderfully evocative portrait of a way of life that 'they' seem to want to destroy.
