Better.
Now the focus of the shot is a little more defined.
I'd still have to echo my thought on angle...which I know you can't change on this...

Yes, this works. Intended or not, it conveys emotion. It could be Germany in 1946, in otherwords, there is that element of the unknown that the imagination completes for the viewer and it becomes part of the individual perception.
