Yes, I think the toning is pretty nice, but I like the photograph as a whole, the composition, perspective and moment.

It looks good to me, Suzanne. I agree I don't like the heavily-sepia orangey look. I like sepia very lightly done..

I'm definitely NOT a toning god of apug
In fact I don't use sepia all that much, but I plan to use it more, for archival reasons. I've used copper a lot, use it & the bleach very diluted - nothing like it says on the packet, at least twice the dilution for both - always make sure the print is well washed/waterlogged prior to toning, and the first ones are often ones I don't really want, just to get rid of the aggressive bit of the bleaching/toning. I've used fotospeed sepia, and find that more manageable, but still dilute almost as much....Less time in the bleach, btw means the sepia starts with the highlights and may not reach the lower tones if they haven't been bleached, which can be very nice....specially if split-toned with selenium...

Being darkroomless for many years, I have no idea if toning looks good...but your image looks great.

Suzanne - I like this one better than the original, better contrast. And I think it has just the right amount of toning. You'll have to show me the real print at the next get together.

Thank you, everyone for your comments. I will bring this print next time we all get together, Gene! And I will be doing a few more test prints using different times in the bleach. I'm having so much fun learning this process, and I think the results will be gorgeous!!

I think it's excellent Suzanne.

Different bleaches as well as different sulfide toners render different results. Different print densities tone different as well. The combinations are mind boggling.

I like it as it is.Very much; as a composition as well as the toning.

Thank you Robert and Michael. Yes... it is mind boggling, all the combinations! I must say, though, I'm glad there are so many combinations, Robert!! I'm off to a good start, and looking forward to experimenting with the bleach and toners.
