great start. i agree i would get closer. i you plan to keep the whole body in the shot be carefull not to crop their feet, especially only one of each girl.

I'm a relative novice, too...One of the first things I learned from this site was the rule of thirds...try not to bullseye/center your subject in the photo; it adds interest. Divide your compositon into thirds, corner to corner or side to side, what ever works...

Someone here also said that rules (of thirds) are also ment to be broken.

The most important thing I've learned from this site is, don't be afraid to ask questions. There's a lot of great and talented people here that will gladly share what they know. I learn something each time that I visit.

First shot? I'm impressed. I find the placement of the models to be just fine. I might get a bit closer but the log leads your eye to them. I would tone down the contrast. No body is that white, plus detail is lost in the hand. She has only one finger. Toning the contrast down would also control the black hole created by the girl on the right's shirt. Of course this could eb my POS monitor's problem not your print's.

It's not just your monitor my contrast was a little to um.. well contrasting.
