Lighthouse

Lighthouse

For some pictures I need a little distance to like them. This is one of them. It was printed about a year ago. I got some dust spots on it (thanks ot gimp not showing up here) and thought it not to be worth to repeat it. Now I think I will do it again to get rid of the spots.
The picture was taken during our summer sailing trip around Fünen, an island in the so called danish south sea.
Because of bad weather we had to stay for two days in Söby on Aerö. We used the time for a bicycle-ride to Skjoldnäs-Lighthouse.
They build a large golf course around the lighthouse so I hope it will remain accessible to the public in future.

Really nice shapes, very pleasing to look at. You should persevere with this one, plus I just love lighthouses!

I to find this image pleasing to the eye. It definetly has a lot going for it. I think it is worth re -printing. With minor dodging and burning I think you can get a very sweet print.

I like it a lot. Yes, I think it will pay off to spend some more time printing this one! Good luck.

Very nie. At first glance, I thought it was large format! The image has really nice flow to it. (Gimp rules eh! I use it on my Mac and Linux boxes)
How do you like Delta 400 with d76/1:1? I tried that and I found grain mushy. I don't mind grain, I just don't like it when its like oatmeal. I found that using acutance developer makes the grain really nice.

Hi Eric,
besides stamping away (is this the right term?) the mentioned dust spots and slight unsharp masking after downsizing the image, it is as it came out of the scanner. I like D400 for 35mm as it does not show grain to talk of up to 9x11.

Lovely photograph well worth the effort to work up to a fine print.

All the best,
Daniel

I like the tone and composition of your picture. There are some colors showed up on my monitor, I guess it's the scanning problem. Did you scan it with color setting or gray scale?
