I spent about a week zooming around New Mexico in Feb 2005. A bit disappointing in terms of photographic results but my first trip to a very beautiful part of the world which I would like revisit with more time to take in the landscape. Shortly after I took this shot the sun set and I proceeded to lose my bearings in the White Sands dunes and thought I may end up spending the night there but that's another story!
There must be millions of White Sands with Yuccas pictures out there. Living in the Southwest means I get to see a lot of them. SO it is nice to see a different and very successful take on what I had thought was a very tired theme. Good job.
Thanks for the feedback. I admit I have my fair share of tired old cliches from my NM trip but this is one which I thought made the cut so thanks for seeing something in this. It takes time and repeat viewings to confirm initial feelings about some shots.
As for being lost in the dunes when I finally got out and hitched a ride back in the dark to my car and drove back to Alamogordo I found out they don't serve alcohol on Sundays! Yikes....I really needed a few stiff scotches and had to settle dismally for a coke. No bending the rules for directionally challenged and traumatised Aussies.
