Hei Carl

Nope, on this on all of the image is out of focus..
I have worked a lot with this kind of images, because I mean that the effect this make often can set the veiwers mind in another mood..

This one is actually on of the images that is MOST in focus..
I've been inspired of images from peopels like keith karter for a long time.

In the other image there is one thing in focus, and thats the ting that for me "does the picture" if you understand what I meen..

Pleas let me know what you think of this!
none of the images in this series av been shown on a gallery yet, so I realy need som feedback..

Best regards
Tormod Torgersen

I am not sure - I just can't seem to get past it looks out of focus - as opposed to intentional blur or movement etc! This is probably closely related to the subject matter as if both were sharp to me they'd be very effective. They are obviously considered images and you have achieved the result you set out to - you are the photographer so its your vision - you're just a little more enlightened than I

hmmm.. I don't think enlightning have any thing to do with it, and I in no case has my vision any thing to do with it!

For me, the art of photography combines the most important aspects of fine art: observation, recognition and the free mind.

Every thing that I want you to know about the subject is contained on a piece of paper; a silver print, or in this case a digital image..
For me, the art of photography is the art of getting the viewer to think, to make his own story, let the imagination run freely.

Without this the image would be meaningless, for the viewer as well for me.
All the elements add together, and hopefulle the viewers mind begin a wonderful journey in a world that just he or she knows..

So, if I haven't got you to see pass that the image is out of focus, I have failed.. As simpel as that..

Thank you for taking time Carl!!!

hey Tormod, nice exchange with Carl,
your quite correct in assuming softening can be used for effect, but i think you need to understand the differences between diffusion, softening, depth of field and simply out of focus

usually, out of focus doesn't work for me, it just seems like bad technique, where as the others are techniques that can be used with a great detail of control

it's great to see (read) that someone on this site can take critique and realise that it is not a personal attack

i love your statement - "So, if I haven't got you to see pass that the image is out of focus, I have failed.. As simpel as that.."

great attitude, thank you

I suppose there are ways of saying and sometimes being concise doesn't help! The images are obviously very considered ones and were they sharp appealing to me - if they work for others all well and good! I am not adverse to different - I'll even post a coca-cola can pinhole later today or tomorrow! Your point is well made Ray and Tormod was good enough to reply in kind - egos can be very fragile - if that is the case don't exhibit them in a greenhouse

ofcourse I don't take any comments regarding my pictures as a person attack.

The pictures I'm showing on sites like these are often the ones that I whant to test the veiwers reaction on.

It may be images that I'm not finaly finished with, maybe om not sure if the are good as good as I meen (the artist has a way of being "blind" on his own images..), so honnest and good comments are always wellcome with me..

I'm at work now (works 4 weeks 24/7 on, 2 weeks of) but I hope to get the chance of contrubuting more on writing comments on others members pictures to..

Thank you all for taking time on a new members work!
