Oh, the Kodak miscellaneous thing that smells like cheese. I have a lot of such things. Filter cases, a developing tank, a slide viewer, a darkroom safelight. I'm pretty sure it's the plastic breaking down.

@Don_ih That makes sense! Because no matter how well I scrubbed and washed it, it never would go away.

I had to throw away the safelight (it was one of those ones that screw into a socket and came with three filters) because I could smell it across a room.
